Vascular Lesions

Do you have a vascular lesion you are concerned about or want removed?

Vascular lesions include the following:

  • port wine stains
  • hemangioma
  • telangiectasia
  • diffuse redness
  • venous lake
  • leg veins

There are three main types of vascular lesions that we typically see: spider veins, hemangioma, and cherry angioma. What causes these lesions are abnormal blood vessels that become dense and show right on the skin surface. Vascular lesions are commonly caused by genetics, hormone imbalances or changes, injuries, or exposure to environmental factors. Many people have these as birthmarks even. While mainly unharmful, it can be unsightly. Laser technology now allows us to remove these lesions safely and comfortably.

The GentleMax Pro, from Syneron Candela allows us to treat vascular lesions with ease and comfort.

How Does It Work

The GentleMax Pro uses its 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser to target hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin (the parts of cells which contribute to the lesions). When the laser is used in the targeted area, on the vascular lesion, it goes into the cells and heats them, this creates thermal energy. This thermal energy is able to target the specific cells where the vascular damage is, and destroy the lesion in those tissues.
